Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Comfort Care Centre | Burlington, ON

Looking for something more meaningful in your veterinary career?

Imagine having the time to truly connect with patients and their families, provide care without feeling rushed, and make a difference when it matters most.

We are looking for a compassionate, confident RVT to join our new Comfort Care Centre, where we will provide specialized senior, palliative, hospice and end-of-life care for pets and the families who love them.

With services offered both in our centre and in clients' homes, we're creating a different kind of veterinary experience. One where pets are comfortable, families feel supported, and our team has the time to provide the care they believe in.

This is your chance to be part of something new and help shape it from the beginning.

What You Will Do

As an RVT, you'll play a hands-on role in supporting pets and their families through their final stages of life.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work to the full extent of your RVT scope of practice.

  • Lead quality-of-life discussions, hospice follow-ups and end-of-life appointments, including euthanasia, within your scope and under appropriate DVM oversight.

  • Educate and support families as they navigate difficult decisions.

  • Work alongside veterinarians to create individualized care plans.

  • Provide compassionate care both in our centre and in clients' homes.

  • Help create a peaceful, supportive experience for every patient and family.

New to hospice care? That's okay! We provide comprehensive training, including 3–6 months of structured onboarding and shadowing, so you feel confident and supported before working independently.

Who We're Looking For

We believe the best people for this role share four important qualities:

Compassion: You genuinely care about pets and people, and approach every family with kindness and without judgment.

Communication: You're a great listener who can guide families through sensitive conversations with warmth and understanding.

Confidence: You're comfortable taking the lead, making decisions within your scope and knowing when to ask for support.

Calm: You bring a steady, reassuring presence, even during emotional or difficult moments.

You don't need to be an expert in hospice care. We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, passionate about patient care and excited to grow.

What You'll Bring

  • Registered Veterinary Technician in good standing.

  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary experience.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Confidence working independently and collaboratively with veterinarians.

  • An interest in senior, palliative and end-of-life care.

  • Comfort supporting families through emotional situations.

  • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to clients' homes.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of veterinary patient care, including lifting up to 50 lbs. independently and 100 lbs. with assistance.

What We Offer

  • Starting pay of $30/hour plus production bonuses.

  • Earning potential of approximately $35–$40+ per hour, including production bonuses, following successful training.

  • Flexible scheduling of approximately 20–40 hours per week.

  • Comprehensive hospice and end-of-life care training.

  • 3–6 months of supported onboarding and mentorship.

  • Opportunities to expand your RVT skills and continue learning.

  • A supportive team that values compassion, collaboration and quality care.

  • The opportunity to help build something truly special from the ground up.

Occasional weekend availability may be required as our services grow.
